Learning through Covid-19
Supporting Home Learning
If a student is absent due to illness, and/or awaiting the outcome of a COVID-19 test, staff will not provide work. The student may only be absent for a few days in the same way that they may be for a normal illness. When students return they will be expected to catch up any missed work and staff will support them to do so.
If a student is absent due to the need to self-isolate as a result of being in contact with someone who has received a positive result, staff will provide work for the student to complete at home, in line with the lessons that the student will miss during this period of absence. Resources will be emailed out to students by their teachers on a weekly basis and will be available for the entire duration of the absence. Students are expected to log in to their school email on a daily basis, access the resources and complete the work set for the subjects they will miss. An outline of the work will also be set on the SIMs Parent App so that parents have an overview of what work is being set.
Support for families
Support can be provided through the Local Welfare Provision team for children who are not able to access an income related FSM due to them Isolating at home. King James's will complete an online form to access this support and a member of the Welfare Provision team will then make contact with the family. If you have any questions regarding this please contact Ms Fitzgerald, Success for All Leader, at King James's School (firstname.lastname@example.org)
